Is a career in Graphic Design is good opportunities in this recession?

I want to go to college to study Graphic Design on but I'm not sure if it will be able to find a job in this area when doing so. Who is a graphic designer and continue to field a good career? As opportunities for work, right?

I have not researched the field in depth, but I know it's a very competitive field and get only the best in it.
