What are the programs that you should know to become a professional web designer and a professional web?

programmer and what is the best editor program for PHP?
I know you should know Corel draw 3D max, and Photoshop for design websites, logos and corporate identity and you should know html language, java script, php and asp.net for programming and you should know front page, adobe page maker, adobe go live and dream weaver for editing and you should know macromedia flash, switch max and flash for flash websites is that enough to become the best professional webmaster or there is any program you should know.

There are a few main ways in to “web design”:

Web authoring (html/css/javascript)

Web Developing (php/asp/etc scripting and some sql)
Graphic Design (coral/adobe)
Flash designer (MM-FLASH)

I would chose Web Authoring and one of the other three to focus but be aware of the others to a basic level.

Re: PHP script editing: As a free editor Textpad is very good (although you will be asked occasionally to purchase the item – you don’t have to as long as you are happy to answer this prompt every few saves).

Overview:
PHP is good from a unix point of view – very powerful but old hat. Still extremely popular as it is opensource – fits in well with MySQL (opensource) database.

Know Dreamweaver but only be aware of frontpage (not good for commercial sites).

Know Javascript basics e.g. client side validation (should be easy as it is quite similar to PHP). Using Textpad or Dreamweaver for editing.

Photo editor – Photoshop is the industry standard but Paint Shop Pro is perfectly acceptable and cheaper.

Classic ASP and ASP.NET are good to have – they are much more up to date and will get you better jobs as well as allowing much quicker code development.

Know the basics of FLASH – but unless you want to specialise in that don’t go too far as this is an industry in itself. If you have a flare for it, then go that route rather than a php/asp scripting route.

To be the best professional webmaster… that takes experience and time… just don’t expect it to come overnight… to be the best I would suggest you need a massive number of different projects under your belt and this may take years… do you have that time or patients? And also remember over that time you will probably find new technologies coming in that you will need to keep up with and may be jump ship to….

It is not easy work no matter what people tell you and how easy it looks to get in to the levels of complexity just keep going on and on… you will never know everything and never earn any decent money in the long run (so many people think that you will – but how many web developers really do…. 0.05%…. probably less!?)
