How much does a graphic designer responsible for a site banner, logo, graphic or web page?

I am looking for prices because Prices are asking me in my work. I graduated in 2004 has done much work of the Commission and volunteers then .. Now people ask me prices to try to recover.

This is a personal decision. The problem is that many people want to get something for next to nothing and try to get the creation, overhaul, modify a design, etc., without stopping, but you pay for all the work they put into their work. I remember my art teacher tells us about a book you can buy that helps designers work on price. You can see the books at Amazon.com, Borders and Barnes & Noble, which can help further. I struggled with this because I too want to charge and lose customers to another design, but yet I do not want to sell myself short, either! Yahoo groups have a graphic designer, Web Design Meetup groups can get involved. I went a few meetings like this when I lived in Seattle, WA. You get to meet all levels of the designers and learn how to ask. An important tip: Today I ask for half price in advance, without exception. You must be firm on this as I had friends who have been completely torn by customers after losing many hours designing things the customer does not pay. Hope this helps. Good luck, fellow designer!
