Best interior design software/tools?
I’m desgning my own house interior and wood work, which includes the furntuire drawings(wardrobes , wall units), palcement in room, and colour scheme, Which are the best tools available on internet (free ofcourse ;)) to help me? I will more interested in tools which can show me 3D picture with colour scheme and may be some build-in components (like room, wardrobe)

Though I haven’t figured out all the components yet…I purchased a program called Plan 3D. It is super cheap, easy to use. Please make sure to read the system requirements. I tried finding good free software and there isn’t alot out there with all of the components I was looking for. We’re doing an entire addition and this has enabled me to really get a feel for furniture placement, closet space, etc.
A yearly subscription comes out to 2.95 a month, with unlimited access. I’ve had no problems with the program, its wonderful.

Question about graphic design/related careers (in the UK)?
I’m taking on a degree course in graphic design starting this September and am wondering what employment opportunities are like on graduation. Is it a good career or can the degree lead to something related that is better?

as well as how good your portfolio is, it will depend alot on how much networking you do when you at uni, try to get work placements for a week, intern or just constantly talking to people about there company etc…
most companies will also heavily rely on character so giving an impression of yourself will help for when you search for a job.
as far as a career its one of those occupations that gives out as much as you give in, you will have to start low and youll get as far as your willing to work for, but remember why you got into graphic design first of all, if it was only for a career then you wont last long, just keep enjoying it and you will always be happy!

How much should I charge for custom website design?
Hello,
I am a Junior in college for a degree in Computer Science. I have been approached by a friend to create a custom website (He is ready and willing to pay for the site). I have some web design experience, and am able to create a website, however I have never done one for someone else as a job. So basically I was wondering how much I should charge? Basically I will be doing some flash button/banners, a couple graphic design things, and a completed website with about four pages and a database.
Any Idea how much I should charge, or how long a project like this should take?

I think as a first job, you might charge anywhere from $7.00 an hour to $10.00 an hour, negotiable.
You would have to keep very accurate records of when you actually work on the project.
Without knowing the details, it would be rather difficult to say how long it would take to design.
Good luck, and – oh yeah – don’t forget to save a copy of the finished job in it’s own folder, as a “portfolio” of professional (i.e. paid) web sites you have created – this, of course, being your first. This way, later on, you can use them as references on a professional resume. And don’t forget to get permission in writing to use the website as a personal reference.
Oh, yeah – one last thing – I almost forgot – create a contract – IN WRITING – with signatures – explaining exactly what you will do, and how much you will charge. That way, if there is any question later on, you will have a legal contract.

Sketch Up, ArchiCAD and AutoCAD are used are the 3 and taught us. You can get a free scheme charge test. There are special programs for many (such as an architect, etc to the kitchen, but not widespread).

I’m starting my own business dealing with business cards (for right now). Then its on to brochures and flyers. Is what I am doing considered graphic design or printing. I do include logos (if the customer wants it).
