Thinking of developing a tshirt line and propose to the retail co. I work for – anyone know the steps to take? – I failed to mention I work directly with the buyer (friend of mine) for a chain of 15 stores and I’ve already pitched the idea to him and it’s a go – I just need to know the steps to take to get the t-shirts made – outsource? if so, where? or…buy a screen printer and do it myself – I’m wanting to just test in one store that’s requesting a certain design for now – thanks for the help!
Since you’ve never been in business before, I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. You have to determine whether you’ll start a web based business or one with a store front. I’d call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.
The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a tshirts, screenprinting business and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you’ll concentrate on (your market ) and how you’ll go after them.
You’ll need to register the business with your state controller’s office and make sure that you have any city and county licenses if any are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.

There are many mechanical engineering CAD software available, each has it’s own advantages and limitations, but all have basic functions, so it depends on your purpose and scope of use.
If you are a beginner, you can use Solid works or Autodesk Inventor, they’re both so easy and simple to learn and use. They have simple graphical user interface, so you will get to learn them fast and enjoy using them. I think both are equally efficient and good as a start. Both can do all basic functions: drawing, layout, analysis, machine design, dynamic simulation, stress analysis etc.
If you want more intensive and powerful ME CAD software, so go for CATIA or ProEngineer. These software are used in heavy industry and complex designs and engineering analysis.
I learned Autodesk inventor and then proceeded to proengineer and other cam programs. So I would suggest that for you too.

Graphic Design magazine comparison?
i’ve just started a graphic design course and my first assignment is to compare 2 magazines. I have chosen guitarist australia and a gardening magazine. some of the things we have to talk about are:
Theme and style, functionality and the delivery platform.
These 3 things might be obvious to an experienced designer, but im not sure what to talk about.. can someone help?
Well, the two themes would probably be something like guitars and gardening.. I would think….
As far as style goes – I’ve never seen either magazine, but I would imagine that the guitar one is a lot edgier and funkier than the gardening magazine. You can probably elaborate pretty heavily on this section without too much effort.
Are you into guitars? Gardening? Hopefully you’ve chosen two magazines that interest you… and will be able to tell pretty easily if they are functional. Are they mostly ads? Packed with info? Effective layouts, typefaces, graphics, etc? Most importantly – will they grab and hold the attention of their target audience? The effectiveness of the magazine is probably determined by the bottom line.. so the more subscriptions and purchases, the better.
Delivery platform – is that just the type of paper, size of magazine, etc..? Not sure what is being asked, exactly.

Where is the best place to buy a desktop Mac computer?
I want to use Final Cut Pro so I need to buy a Mac just to use that program. Is there anywhere, retail place or online, that I can get a Mac computer cheap to use FCP?
By the way, is getting a desktop computer necessarily better than a laptop when using a program like Final Cut Pro?
The Apple store is honestly the best place to go. Yes a desktop is better than a laptop, unless you are buying a Macbook Pro.
