Logos Design

What size and DPI do you design logos at?

I have played a lot with coming up with logos and the answer really depends on the media you are targeting. I was using some really detailed logos on my webpages but then they were loading too slowly for dial up users. I therefore went to a much smaller and less complicated logo. If you look at the most recognized logos around they are mostly simple and small and easily reproducable in multiple media types. I think the KISS rule applies here.
